Weekly Sports News Brief
Category
Communications | Editorial Design | Brand Awareness
My brief was to collate sporting news from across Brynteg School into a weekly publication celebrating pupil participation, team performances and sporting achievements. The aim was to create a consistent, engaging and easy-to-read resource that brings together updates from multiple year groups and sporting activities while maintaining the school’s brand identity.
Concept
The concept was to transform a wide range of sporting updates into a concise, visually engaging weekly round-up. Using Brynteg School’s branding, a clear content hierarchy and a combination of team photographs and short summaries, the publication was designed to make information accessible at a glance.
The format provides a consistent identity for the series while giving pupils’ achievements and sporting opportunities the recognition they deserve.
Execution
I developed a structured newsletter layout that balances sporting photographs, match reports, results, team highlights and upcoming fixtures. Content was edited to prioritise key information, keeping reports concise and easy to scan without losing the enthusiasm and personality behind each achievement.
Consistent typography, school colours and visual styling reinforce brand awareness, while clearly defined sections help readers navigate the content. The weekly format also provides a repeatable approach to gathering, editing and presenting sporting news for parents, pupils and the wider school community.
Outcome
The weekly Sports News publication provides a centralised, recognisable format for celebrating sport at Brynteg School. It brings together achievements and opportunities from across the school, making sporting news easier to access and helping to strengthen the visibility of the school’s sporting culture.
The project demonstrates my ability to manage content collation, editorial decision making and visual communication. With the importance of balancing photographs and text whilst establishing visual hierarchy, combining concise copywriting with brand-led design to create a practical and engaging weekly publication.
